Individuals desiring to know the function of blood in body need to understand that the heart supplies blood to other parts of the body through arteries.  It flushes out the blood through the arteries with force that is extremely variable on how the arteries function.  Blood pressure is calculated by multiplying the flow of blood with the resistance to the flow of blood.  High Blood pressure would be a direct indicator of either/or both these factors being on the higher side.

Blood pressure is measured as a combination of Systolic and Diastolic Blood pressure.  Blood pressure, measured off a blood pressure cuff or a pressure measuring instrument reads the pressure levels as Systolic Pressure/Diastolic Pressure.  The normal blood pressure levels in human beings should be 120/80 mmHg.  Individuals having blood pressure in the range of 120/80-140/90 mmHg are reported to be in a stage of Hypertension.

What causes High Blood Pressure in individuals?

In close to 90-95% of High Blood Pressure cases, doctors do not quite know the causes of High Blood Pressure.  The closest doctors have got to the causes is to identify factors causing High Blood Pressure.  Some of them are hardening of the wall of arteries and contraction of arteries.

Statistically, doctors conclude that approximately 70% of the cases have an underlying health issue that contributes to high blood pressure.  Some of them include diabetes, high cholesterol etc.

What disorders are caused due to High Blood Pressure?

• High Blood pressure causes tremendous osmotic pressure within the urinary tract and the kidneys.  This result in the kidneys to start malfunctioning that in severe cases may lead to renal failures.

• High blood pressure impact the normal functioning of the heart and specifically the pumping operation of the heart that allows blood to reach other parts of the body.  This results in many body parts like eyes, ears and even brain to get impacted.  In severe cases, this could lead to individuals suffering from paralytic stroke.

• In some cases, High Blood Pressure causes individuals to suffer from Erectile Dysfunction.  Erectile Dysfunction is also contributed due to Diabetes.  It is this factor and many others that correlate High Blood Pressure and Diabetes.

How to treat High Blood Pressure?

The treatment for high blood pressure is dependant on the body part foreseen to be damaged due to high blood pressure.  In essence, all the methods of treatment applicable to diabetes apply themselves to high blood pressure.  Of course, the drugs would be different but the basic mode of treatments like Aerobic Exercises, Strength training and Dietary changes are applicable to treating high blood pressure.

High Blood pressure is something that individuals are not quite aware of till they start experiencing the symptoms.  One can look for effectively curing high blood pressure or hypertension even after the onset of some symptoms.
